Thursday, Thursday!

Sorry about not blogging last night...sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day!  :)

Many thanks to those of you that have sent in supplies for Dr. Pepper.  We are still "stocking" our shelf if you are planning a trip to the pet store in the near future.

Don't forget!  Tomorrow is the last day to sign up to golf or have dinner with us at the Make-A-Wish Fundraiser this Sunday at Juday Creek!  We hope to see you there!

LA: We had a long morning this morning.  The computer lab is still closed for testing so we used that chunk of time for writing.  We had a great time writing persuasive letters to people convincing them of something.  Watch for these heart tugging letters to come home soon!  We also didn't get to visit with our reading buddies today because they were at the Planetarium...so we were able to catch up on a lot of other stuff too.  We got in some grammar, still reviewing proper nouns, read aloud, reading the story with partners, author's purpose and handwriting.

HW: Finish persuasive letter, author's purpose page and WH-it's all due tomorrow!

Math: We worked on our multiplication facts again today by practicing with fact triangles.

HW: Journal page 61, math box 3.5 and study link 3.5 are all due tomorrow.

Social Studies: (Grannan) We worked in our pairs to create our collage pieces today representing the groups that are being discussed in chapter 3.  We have some amazing artists in class.

HW: Finish collage pieces and bring them back on Monday.

We're still accepting sign ups for the Golf Outing to support Make-A-Wish!  Be sure to contact Mrs. Stephan to sign up for dinner or golfing, and myself regarding a donation.

LA: We had a busy morning today.  We continued talking about nouns, both common and proper.  We also completed some more review on run-on sentences.  Since last week's story was the last in Unit 1, we took some time today to complete the Unit 1 reading test as well.

HW: Weekly homework is due on Friday.  Handwriting pages 30-31 are due tomorrow.

Math: We jumped into Unit 3 today-"What's My Rule?" problems.  We did a lot of review and examples together on white boards until we all got the hang of things.

HW: Journal pages 53-54, math boxes and study link 3.1 are due tomorrow, in addition to the extra practice worksheet that was sent home.  Math tests were sent home today-be sure to watch for them.

Social Studies: (Grannan) We jumped into chapter 3 today.  We had a great time looking at a list of 5 things and discussing what out of those items we would miss the most.  We discussed how this tied in with Social Studies and how the United States is made up of a variety of goods from people of all backgrounds.  We also read chapter 3, section 1.

Another Busy Day!

We're treasuring these last few days of nice weather...I'm sure Fall is going to be here soon!

LA:  We weren't able to go to computer lab this morning due to some testing that was taking place, so we stayed in our room and had some "centers." We're in the midst of allergy season and we've run out of tissues...if you happen to have a box laying around at home that you're not using, our noses would sure appreciate it!

Back in class, we worked on writing sentence fragments into complete sentences by either adding a subject or predicate. We also worked on filling out a main idea and supporting detail chart as we partner read the story, A Walk In The Desert. For our practice page, we worked on figuring out new, unfamiliar words by using the surrounding words and rules for spelling long /a/ sounds in words. This was also a great review for our spelling words this week.
