Whew! Another full day of learning here in room 25!
LA: Today was our short day due to double specials! We took the unit 1 reading test this morning and also spent some more time on common nouns. Today, as part of our grammar lesson, we also introduced proper nouns. Be sure to ask your child what the difference between these two are!
HW: Fluency and Flow is due on Friday! Here is what needs to be done in order to avoid an oops slip: Read the story and get a parent signature. Answer the 5 questions at the end of the story in complete thoughts. In the Word Workout section, students need to write a definition for each word and then put the 7 words in a sentence about baseball. For spelling words, students just need a parent signature that it was done orally at home together. On the back, students need to chose who they want to write about and answer the questions, they do not need to write a story. Also--please don't forget that Northpoint's expectations are that each 4th grader is reading 20-30 minutes per night and it should be recorded in the agenda. I am taking monthly minutes and applying that towards students independent reading standard on their report cards.
Math: We worked more on our math mania packet today. I was able to meet with small groups on some skills that weren't mastered from unit 2. This was a great opportunity for review!
HW: Math Mania packet is due on Monday
Health: Students had a great time making "Good Thinking Caps" today. We spent a bit of time talking about the importance of good self concepts and how it is helpful in our lives.
HW: None
Make sure to check out the new links I added to our blog. You can easily access lexile.com and arbookfind.com which will help you find great books to read.
Also--as a reminder, Friday is our special No Child Left Inside Day. We have a lot of fun activities planned and are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain holds off. If you haven't brought in your plastic container for music yet, you will need it by Thursday!
Things to watch for in blue folders tonight: Afternoon Adventures papers. These are due back on October 7th!
