I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I know the Woods' Family is enjoying every minute of the amazing fall weather to go out and play! :)
LA: We enjoyed both Library and Gym today first thing. Upon returning, we jumped into singular possessive nouns in Grammar. It was fun to watch the apostrophe light bulbs click on! :) We also had our spelling pre-test, introduced our story, How Ben Franklin Stole The Lightening, and went over our vocabulary and RIT words. We also enjoyed hearing 4 of our friends present their reading projects--looking good so far.
This week's story vocabulary words are: hilarious, convinced,mischief, independence, (came in) handy, dizzy, whirlwind, nowadays.
This week's RIT words are:
Appositive-When you are renaming someone or something. This is often information that is not needed. Example: Mrs. Stephan, our principal, is gone today.
Bias-A preconceived opinion about something.
Caricature-A distorted character resulting from the author or artist, deliberately exaggerating a trait or traits of a personality.
Character-A person in a literary work.
Cliche'-A familiar word or phrase that has been used so much that it is no longer a good way of saying something. Example: red as a beet, cool as a cucumber, dumb as a box of rocks.
HW: Weekly homework due Friday.
Math: We continued our work on decimals today...working with base-10 blocks. We worked with wholes, tenths, hundredths and thousandths.
HW: Math box and study link 4.2, in addition to the extra sheet are all due tomorrow.
Social Studies: Alllllllllllllllllll Aboard! We started our train tour of the Northeast Region of the United States today. We made stops in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts today. We had a great time pretending to be colonists just getting off the Mayflower and deciding upon a government.
