Today is the start of Red Ribbon Week! Our theme this year is, "I elect to be drug free!" This is such an important week for the students and an amazing opportunity to open up conversations at home about this very important topic and being drug free!
LA: Today was a normal Monday. We started out by taking our spelling pre-test, which focuses on words with the letters shr, thr, spr, scr, and spl. Please practice spelling words all week in preparation for Friday's test. We also shared our story, Focus on China, and went over this week's comprehension and vocabulary skills. We will be working on fact and opinion and also compound words this week. In grammar, we focused on plural nouns with special spellings, such as goose/geese, foot/feet, mouse/mice. In computer lab we took some time to reflect on the meaning of Red Ribbon Week and wrote paragraphs about the purpose, the importance and also making a pledge to remain drug free. For writing today, we created Drug Free posters, as part of a school wide project! Watch for our class winner in the lobby next week during conferences!
HW: Fluency and Flow is due Friday. The spelling test will also be given on Friday, along with the other reading assessments. Practice page 53 is due tomorrow!
