I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! Some of us were pretty sleepy heading into school this morning! :)
LA: We had a lot to do on this Tuesday morning. We took our spelling pretest first thing after music. That will be our only weekly homework this week, so study, study, study! We also read our story, The Blind Hunter along with the CD. With the story this week, we will be learning about word families, using a glossary and using the text clues to draw conclusions about our reading. In Grammar, we are continuing to talk about pronouns...focusing today on subject and object pronouns.
Our RIT words for the week are:
Refrain-A phrase, verse, or group of verses repeated in intervals throughout a song or poem, especially at the end of each stanza.
Quip-A clever or witty remark or comment often brought about by the situation.
Style-How the author uses words, phrases, and sentences for his or her ideas.
Suspense-A tension created as the reader becomes involved in a story and when the author leaves the reader in doubt as to what is coming next.
Quote-Text or speech that was written by someone else that you would like display in your own writing.
HW: Spelling test on Friday. Tomorrow is the RIT word quiz.
Math: We learned all about equivalent fractions today in math. We had a great time working with partners to come up with lots of new fractions that are equivalent to one another.
HW: Finish journal pages 342-343 (remember, you need to come up with 5 equivalent fractions for each given one!) math box and study link 7.7 are all due tomorrow.
Social Studies: (Woods) We've started a crop duster tour of the Midwest today! We spent our class today working with partners answering the geography challenge questions! We're looking forward to the rest of the tour!
