Happy Heart Day!

There was a whole lot of friendship being passed around with our gum grams and Valentine's today!  I hope everyone had a wonderful day feeling loved!

LA: We started our new story for the week, At Home In The Coral Reef.  This week we are focusing on comparing and contrasting with this nonfiction narrative.  We're also going to be working on pronouns and homophones, proofreading, comparing and contrasting, protagonists and hyperboles.   We also made time for some DEAR today, as well as proofreading!

This week's vocabulary words are: coral, reef, brittle, eventually, current, partnership, suburbs

HW: Keep reading and recording!  We're about to hit our first landmark as a school, and we need everyone's help!

Math: We worked on lesson 8.6 today, which had us learning about finding the area of a parallelogram.  We did some experimenting with cutting out parallelograms and making them into rectangles.

HW: Math box and study link 8.6 (study link has 2 sides), page 238 and the extra sheets are all due tomorrow.  Unit 8 test will be given on Thursday!

Social Studies: (Grannan) We continued learning about farming in the Midwest in the 1800's.  The kids had a great time learning about how difficult life was on a farm that many years ago!

HW: None
