We've had another FANTASTIC day here in 4th grade!!
LA: We enjoyed jumping on Study Island in computer lab this morning. This is a great program to practice skills at home as well. All children should know how to log themselves in after today...but just in case anyone has forgotten, please shoot me an email and we will get you all set! We also enjoyed going down to Mrs. McGann's room for our first session of reading/writing buddies this morning. It was so fun to watch our 4th graders make the transition into being the "older" buddy now and how much that meant to them. I think we are going to have a great year with our first grade friends. In addition to both of those activities, we also had time for writing and Vocabulary Vine & Triumphs. If you haven't heard about Vocabulary Vine yet, ask about it at the dinner table! There were an amazing amount of "light bulbs" clicking on today as the relationships we have been making with the roots started to make sense!
HW: Spelling test will be given tomorrow. Book orders are due on Wednesday!
Math: We are continuing our work with polygons, angles, line segments, lines and rays. Today, we also introduced convex and concave polygons. It was fun to explore these shapes using straws and twist ties.
HW: Math box 1.5 and study link 1.5
Social Studies: (Grannan) I had another fun day listening to all the students talk about the 4 artifacts they each brought in to share for the Social Sciences. We had fun exploring everyone's and then sharing with the class.
HW: None
Looking Ahead:
Picture day is Friday, September 3rd.
