Good News To Share!

We've had a very exciting week at Northpoint! Not only do we have our first complete week of the 2010-2011 school year under our belts, we also heard really good news!

If you have some time this weekend...check out www.schooldigger.com and notice that NORTHPOINT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS RANKED #1!!!! Hip, Hip, Hooray!

LA: Another busy, busy day today. We had music first thing. When we returned to the class, we had our first spelling test (which we rocked at!), took our selection assessment and weekly test. During this time, we also had 3 safety drills, code blue, shelter in place and storm. When we were done with those, we had a great time writing poetry for the first time in 4th grade. We are going to be focusing on different kinds of poems each week, and this week happened to be writing poems about ourselves.

HW: Share reading project-cereal box-ideas! Book orders are due Wednesday.

Math: We took a break from our lessons in the journals today to work on some geometry art. It was interesting and fun to see what we could create using only certain geometric shapes and lines. We have some very creative artists among us.

HW: None

Social Studies: (Woods) What would it be like to be an archaeologist 500 years from now? What kind of artifacts would best help them learn about the lives we live? We explored these questions today by finding "artifacts" in the trash and writing about them as if we were those archaeologists in the future.

HW: The first test will be given in Social Studies next Thursday for my class. The test will cover everything from chapter 1. Be on the lookout for a study guide to come home Tuesday.

Looking Ahead:
  • Picture day is one week from today!
