I hope everyone had an amazing Spring Break! I enjoyed living vicariously through everyone's stories and tans!
LA: We started another novel study today, Sign of the Beaver is what we will be working with the next three weeks. During this novel study, there will be no spelling words or weekly homework. Your child should expect nightly homework that goes along with the chapters being read in class, however. We made it through chapters 1 & 2 today, with a lot of discussion about our figurative language terms. We specifically focused on similes, tone, colloquialism, imagery and suspense. We also talked briefly about bias and flashbacks.
HW: 2 pages (free pages, not attached to anything), comprehension questions 1 & 2, vocabulary words (blunderbuss, matchlock, chinking and flint) and the figurative language sheets are due tomorrow. MAP testing will take place this Thursday morning.
Math: We took a pre-test over the last two units in our math book today.
HW: None
Social Studies: (Grannan) We've begun learning about the last region in the United States, The Great West. We will be taking a plane and van tour through this region as we learn. We spent the day working through our geography challenge cards.
HW: None
