Hip, Hip, Hooray!

We've made it through ISTEP+ Round 1! I would like to compliment all the students on staying so focused this week!  ISTEP+ testing always provides just a little bit of extra stress and they did a fantastic job!

LA: We are back to our normal routine today.  We spent quite a bit of time reviewing our RIT words with a review Bingo game today.  Many, many, many of us are really struggling with getting these words learned.  There will be a quiz over all of the words that have been studied on Thursday of next week.  Words that should be learned by now are:
  • appositive, bias, caricature, character, cliche, consonance, couplet, connotation, denotation, dialogue, irony, anecdote, parallelism, allusion, declarative sentence, imperative sentence, interrogative sentence, exclamatory sentence, appendix, omniscient, persona, preposition, scansion, stereotype, refrain, quip, style, suspense, quote, mood, paraphrase, interjections, symbolism, suspense, setting, supporting details, synechdoche, sarcasm, stanza, antithesis, aphorism, conflict, characterization, first person point of view, cinquain, euphemism, homophone, imagery, italics, simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification.
Students should have all of these words and definitions in their red binders.  Please also refer to previous blog posts if needed.

HW: Start studying for Thursday's RIT quiz.

Math: We spent time reviewing skills in computer lab today using the Odyssey program.  We also continued our work on probability review.

HW: None

Social Studies: (Grannan) We jumped on our big rig today to start the tour of the Southwest Region of the United States.  We had a lot of fun learning about the Hoover Dam, Phoenix, Arizona and Monument Valley.

HW: Make sure your group is ready to present their Hoover Dam proposals first thing Tuesday afternoon.
