LA: Today was the start of another story in unit 4! This week, we are reading a Time For Kids, all about energy! This non-fiction story gives us lots of great information! With the story this week, we are learning about persuasion, working with word definitions and spelling words with special vowel sounds! Our spelling pre-tests went much better this morning than this time last week! :) We also spent time typing up our poetry in computer lab. In addition to reviewing the poetry we already have created, we added a new type today: Clerihews! Alliteration was also reviewed during writing time!
HW: Clerihew poem, alliteration paper and cursive spelling words are all due Wednesday! (I'll only have time to say "Hello and go to Gym," tomorrow. Fluency and flow is due Friday. We've shaken things up a bit this week...there is no Home and School Connection! Depending on where your child goes for Vocabulary Vine depends on the homework they are doing in addition to their questions! Some have a drawing conclusions/inferences sheet, others have a Latin/Greek word root sheet. Also--please double check the comprehension questions...many are being completed in incomplete sentences and we are past that! Last call for book orders!
Math: Fraction Floor Fun! We spent the entire day reviewing fraction concepts on the floor with white boards today! We also learned about adding fractions with unlike denominators and not using pictures! :) Be sure to share about common denominators!
HW: None!
Health: One more time! After taking a good long look at the quizzes this weekend, they just weren't that great! Today, the students had the opportunity to go back over them with their books this time and correct them! From the ones I saw being turned in, they look much better.
HW: Read pages 128-131. Lesson Check Up 1-3, must be written in complete sentences!
Don't forget:
- Tomorrow is a PBA day! Sleep In--See you at 10:10!
- Wednesday is the PTO sponsored Read In! Plan to bring the family and enjoy some good books and fun activities!
