Good-Bye 2008!
Whew! The first 1/2 of 4th grade is gone in a blur.
After our wonderful wintery start this morning, we had a fantastic day.
LA: Due to our delay, we had a short time together before we went to IMC.
Math: We were able to finish up tests today!
Giving Celebration: There's nothing to put you in the spirit quite like the singing voices of 500+ students. It was fantastic!
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe, play hard and see you in 2009!

Walkin' In A Winter Wonderland!
We're only 2 days away! We can do it!
LA: We had a super time making 3-D snowflakes this morning. Special thanks to Mrs. Lima for coming and helping out! Watch for them to be on display with our winter writing after the holiday break! We also had a great time visiting with our reading buddies for the last time in 2008! We came back to our room to work on handwriting and then enjoyed time in our camp under!
HW: None
Math: We had a practice test today! This took much longer than anticipated, so we will go over it first thing tomorrow and see if we have time for the test! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can get it done.
HW: Unit 6 test tomorrow, hopefully!
Art Smart: Special thanks to Mrs. Demel for presenting to us about Egyptian Art and Mrs. Drye and Mrs. Meyer for helping out. Our projects look fantastic!
Don't forget tomorrow is Mini Mall!
Just in case...as of right now, the weather is not looking good for Friday...please try to remind your child to bring everything (snow pants, gloves, hats, boots, etc) they will need for break on the off chance we have a bonus winter break day!

One Day Closer!
We're inching our way to Winter Break...and by the looks of things...we are ready!
LA: We finished up treasure box presentations today! If you're at school in the near future, check them out in the display case right outside Mrs. Hill's room, they look wonderful! We also had DEAR time and worked on our cursive.
HW: None!
Math: We took at time out today to see just what we remember from this first part of 4th grade.
HW: Unit 6 test is on Thursday.
Health: Today was the last day in the Health rotation for this nine weeks with Ms. Grannan's class. We watched a great video about being healthy and then wrote a quick paragraph on the importance of keeping our bodies healthy.
HW: None!
We have Art Smart tomorrow! Don't forget that Mini Mall is Thursday afternoon! Items may be brought to school in the morning and stored until we start!

4 More Wake Ups!
It seems as if we've come down with the Winter Break Wiggles! Please continue to have conversations nightly about staying focused on this last week! I know it's hard!
LA: No reading story this week = No Homework! Wahoo! This morning we had a wonderful time hearing reading presentations and looking through treasure boxes. I'm so impressed at the effort and thought put into the boxes! We also took some time to do silly Winter Mad Libs. 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and Jingle Bells have never been more interesting! We also squeezed in time for handwriting and read aloud as well.
HW: We need parent helpers on Wednesday. Please look for the half sheet that came home on Friday.
Math: More awesome angles today! We continued working on measuring angles with full and half protractors.
HW: Math box and study link 6.8. Center work is also due tomorrow. The unit 6 test will be given on Thursday. We are going to be skipping the last two lessons, which we will cover when we return to school. These topics will not be assessed on the test.
Health: Today was the chapter 3 test.
HW: None
We're almost there...hang on!

Only One More Week? Are Ya Kiddin' Me?
Wow...5 more "get ups" and our 2008 school days are over. Can you even believe it?
We have a busy week next week...hang on!
LA: Today were our assessments that we breezed through with ease! Some of us also worked on finishing up our winter writing! We even had time to get out some great review games. Mrs. Stephan was very impressed with our knowledge of synonyms! We will be doing presentations over treasure boxes on Monday and Tuesday. I can't wait to hear about them, they look fantastic!
HW: Check out the note that came home today about needing some helpers next Wednesday morning! We have a super fun snowflake activity planned and it will be much less stress with more adults! :)
Math: Review center day today! We rotated through coordinate grid practice, long division and computer games. Please continue to review the steps of long division at home, some of us are still have trouble remembering exactly what to do!
HW: None
Health: We reviewed chapter 3 today in preparation for Monday's test. Students had the entire 40 minutes to complete the review and will have 15 more on Monday before the test.
HW: Chapter review if you feel like you won't have enough time on Monday to finish up.
We have many fun things planned for next week! This is a very hard time to stay focused, please help us reiterate personal best behavior at home! If you know that your holiday plans will prevent your child from being at school everyday next week, please let us know as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful weekend!

There Just Aren't Enough Hours In My Day...
Which is a pretty bad excuse for not blogging yesterday, but there you have it! :) My apologies to those of you that faithfully check it each night!
LA: Vocabulary Vine, Grammar, Spelling and reading galore this morning. We crammed many things into our short time together. We continued work with our spelling sounds, as well as talked about contractions today and just how they are formed and spelled. We also spent time with our leveled readers and taking AR tests.
HW: Don't forget that tomorrow is our usual Friday, so Fluency and Flow is due. The reading treasure boxes are due as well! We've had 3 turned in so far and they are AMAZING! I can't wait to see the rest! Usual assessments will be given tomorrow as well!
Math: Protractors, Please! We began work on measuring and drawing angles today. This brings us back to the very first unit in 4th grade math! Now is a great time to review angle terms with your child. We need to know the difference between acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex! Talk about it at dinner tonight!
HW: Pages 167-169 are due tomorrow
Health: Our hearts were beating fast! We spent our day exercising! We got a baseline for 4 aerobic exercises today and plan on rechecking this in about 6 weeks! I've challenged all of Ms. Grannan's class to pick one of these exercises to work on per day to increase strength and endurance! We even spent some time "Sweatin' To The Oldies!"
HW: Chapter 3 test will be given on Monday!
Things in blue folders you should have seen by now:

Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a delightful weekend! We're back to our normal routine!
LA: Today we started the story, My Brother Martin. We had an amazing discussion about segregation and the Civil Rights Movement. This week we are discussing more about author's purpose and also prefixes. Our spelling words this week contain silent letters, which proved pretty tricky on our pre-test. Be sure to study those words! We didn't have Computer Lab today due to Map testing, and we won't have it again next week either. We made time for a writing marathon today in addition to starting a new read aloud!
HW: Fluency and flow is due Friday, as well as all the assessments. Don't forget that we have our Reading MAP testing Wednesday morning first thing. The reading project due date is right around the corner...due next Friday!
Math: We spent a lot of time on powers of 10 and exponents today in class. Many of us struggle with remembering to multiply instead of add when finding solutions! Review of this at home would be super helpful!
HW: Exponent sheet is due tomorrow!
Health: Today we reviewed for the Chapter 3 test which will be given tomorrow, our last day of this Health rotation!
HW: Finish Chapter 3 review and study for the test.
Don't Forget:
Doughnuts with Dad is Friday!
Mini-Mall papers are due soon...make sure you are coming up with a plan!
