Happy Holidays!

Mini Mall Mania!
Wowie, Wow, Wow! The first mini-mall of the year is always a big event...today was no different! I think it's safe to say that the kid had an AMAZING time buying and selling their goods!
LA: We have officially finished up all of our work and brought Frindle to a close. We will be taking the final test over the book tomorrow...along with making our very own frindles. We also had a great time visiting with our reading buddies and doing some winter themed writing!
HW: Finish chapter 15 if you didn't get it complete in class. Winter writing is due tomorrow as well.
Math: Problem solving fun! We had a lot of fun working through some holiday themed problems that reviewed long division, coordinate grids, charts and computation practice.
HW: None
We finished our day with mini mall!

Wacky Wednesday
Whew! We're finally done with our mixed up schedules and wacky days!
LA: We were super excited to finish up our novel study, Frindle, today. I think the kids really enjoyed the book! We will be taking the final test on Friday. We'll also be making our very own frindles that day, too!
HW: Finish work for chapter 14. There is a quiz over these two chapters tomorrow. The final test will be given on Friday. Be sure to review your chapter questions and previous quizzes.
Math: We took our unit 6 test today!
HW: None
Social Studies: (Grannan) We took our chapter 6 test today.
HW: None

A Sleepy Kind of Day!
I hope everyone enjoyed sleeping in for a few extra hours this morning!
LA: We spent our short morning together down in the LGI watching our friends from Mrs. Doms and Ms. Ruthig's LA classes put on a Shakespeare performance. We're so proud of our actors and actresses.
HW: None
Math: We reviewed for the unit 6 today...watch for the practice test to come home tonight.
HW: MAP test tomorrow afternoon. Unit 6 test Wednesday
Social Studies: (Grannan) We finished up reading chapter 6 with the Reading Further section today. We also worked on making quilt squares that match those of the Gee's Bend quilters. They are very unique!

We're Feelin' Kind of Blue Ribbon(ish) Around Here!
We had an amazing time at our National Blue Ribbon Awards Celebration this morning. We're so proud of everyone coming together to help us achieve this awesome status!
LA: We made it through chapters 9-10 in Frindle together today. We also took the quiz over chapters 6-8. We're continuing our work on vocabulary, answering comprehension questions that review much of our RIT vocabulary (and continuing our work on writing in complete sentences!) in addition to working on journal writing prompts and character traits of our novel's characters.
HW: Finish up work from chapters 9-10. Don't forget the quiz over those chapters will be given tomorrow as well. Where are you on your Biography project? If you are just starting, it's time to get busy! We have a busy couple of months coming ahead with Biography projects and Science Expo...
Math: We worked on coordinate grids today. The students had a lot of fun using coordinate pairs to figure out where things were on a map!
HW: Math box, study link 6.7 along with the extra sheet are due tomorrow. The unit 6 test will be given next Wednesday.
Social Studies: (Grannan) We wrapped up our protest today at the beginning of class. We also read through the summary and began work on a letter to a friend or relative all about our trip to the southeast region of the United States.
HW: Southeast region letters are due on Monday. Chapter 6 test will be given Wednesday.

Tuesday
Another great day here at Northpoint today! Don't forget tomorrow is Variety Day. Plan to wear your jammies, a hat, mis-match, backwards-whatever you want! Bring a dollar for every special thing you wear! All money will go to the Ronald McDonald House at Memorial Hospital.
LA: We were off to music first thing this morning. As we got back to class, we worked on Frindle. We started our morning with an activity done from the point of our main character, Nick. We also read chapters 7-8 as a group. In addition to working on the comprehension questions, vocabulary, journal, we also worked on proofreading skills.
HW: Chapter 7 materials for Frindle are due tomorrow. Chapter 8 materials are due Thursday. Don't forget tomorrow is MAP testing.
Math: We learned how to use full circle protractors today. We had a lot of fun measuring angles.
HW: Math box and study link 6.6 are due tomorrow, along with the extra long division sheet.

Grab Your Snow Gear...
What a WINTER WONDERLAND! Please remember that we continue to go outside during recess unless the temperature or windchill is below 0! Be sure to come prepared for outdoor play!
LA: We had a great time in LA and gym today. We also plugged along in our novel study. Today, we shared chapter 6 today--be sure to ask what Frindle means! :) We also took our quiz over chapters 4-5, worked on our plot worksheets, vocabulary words, comprehension questions and worked on a journal entry.
File folders were also passed out today for the biography projects that are due when we return to school! Be sure they don't get left in backpacks with wet boots! :)
HW: Finish comprehension questions, vocabulary, journal and plot worksheet from chapter 6 if it wasn't completed in class. We will be taking the reading MAP test on Wednesday morning.
Math: Angles, angles, angles today! We had a lot of kinesthetic fun today maneuvering our arms and bodies to make angles. We also took some time to go to the ELA and work on turns...quarter, half and three-quarter...along with vocabulary like clockwise and counterclockwise. We were on the move today.
HW: Math box and study link 6.5 are due tomorrow.
Social Studies: (Grannan) We finished up our tour of the southeast region of the United States by visiting The Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi and Louisiana. We also took some time out to make protest posters regarding the segregation in the 1950's.
HW: Protest posters and poems are due Wednesday.
