Back Into The Swing Of Things...

It was somewhat of a slow start this morning with our Connor Prairie haze, but we jumped right back into our normal routine by mid-morning!

LA: We read the next chunk of chapters, 28-31 in There's A Boy In The Girls' Bathroom, and they shared their literature circle jobs from the previous section.  We also worked on writing a letter as one of the characters in the novel about an event that happened in today's section.  To round out the morning we worked on helping verbs and prepositions.  Be sure to sing the songs at home tonight!  :)

HW: Chapters 28-31 should be read and the literature circle jobs should be completed.  Don't forget to do Day 7 in your Literature Log expectations calendar.

Math: We took the unit 12 assessment today.

HW: None

Art Smart: We had a great time learning about Vincent Van Gogh today and trying to replicate the Starry, Starry Night picture he is famous for.  Many thanks to all of our wonderful parent helpers who have made Art Smart so much fun this year!

Cinco De Mayo!

Yum!  Thanks to all who donated towards the teacher appreciation luncheon today!  We're feeling quite spoiled around here!

LA: We had a long morning due to testing keeping the computer lab occupied.  We were able to work through our next chapters, 14-18, in our novel study today.  We also worked on our new literature circle jobs and a  special computer project about some of our main characters.

HW: Read chapters 14-18 (should have been done in class), complete your novel study job, do activity for Day 4 and complete the wordle.net assignment.

Math: We worked with more unit pricing today and also reviewed some "real life" math situations and problems.

HW: Math box and study link 12.5, along with the number story problems are due tomorrow.

Social Studies: (Grannan) We started chapter 13 today, talking about the techniques people use to draw in an audience.  We applied this to different areas in the West Region and what they do to make us want to move there.

Many Thanks

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the beautiful flowers this morning!  What a wonderful treat to have in our classroom!

LA: We took our novel test over The Sign of the Beaver and jumped right into our next novel study, which is There's A Boy In The Girl's Bathroom.  We will be doing this novel study very differently than our last...the students will be in cooperative learning groups, called Literature Circles.  We discussed the different "jobs" that the students will be assigned throughout the novel study today as we read chapters 1-3.

HW: Day 1 of Literature Log is due tomorrow.  The worksheet that has multiple choice and true false questions over chapters 1-3 is also due tomorrow.

Math: We worked on rate problems today in lesson 12.2.  We had a great time working out the equations and creating rate tables to go along with them.

HW: Math box and study link 12.2 are due tomorrow

Social Studies: (Woods) We read through chapter 12's Reading Further section today, learning about the Pacific Crest Trail.  Students worked in pairs to complete an informational brochure on one the states that the trail passes through.

HW: Finish brochure.  Chapter 12 test will be given on Wednesday
